Myers Park and Event Center started way back in 1969. It was first called the Collin County Youth Park, thanks to land donated by John and Winnie Myers. Since then, it has grown to over 165 acres of pretty, rolling land. This park is a special place for everyone living in Collin County to use.

The park has many cool places you can rent for events. These include a Show Barn and Indoor Arena, an Outdoor Arena, a Stall Barn, a Reception Hall, a Gazebo, and a big Picnic Pavilion. There are also two simple camping areas for groups.

Farm Museum

You can also find the Collin County Farm Museum inside Myers Park. This museum has been looked after by the Collin County Historical Society since 2005. It's a big museum with over 8,500 square feet of space. It also has a blacksmith shop, a granary (where grain was stored), and a special house for animals. It's a great place to learn about old farm life!

Parkhill Prairie is a huge 436-acre grassland park in the very northeast part of Collin County, Texas. Taxpayers helped fund this park in 1983, and it officially opened in 1990.

A big part of the park, about 52 acres, is a special piece of the original Blackland tall-grass prairie. When you visit, you can see amazing views of the countryside, just like early Texas settlers did over 100 years ago! The park has covered picnic areas with cook pits and restrooms. It's open during daylight hours.

In the spring, this park becomes a colorful wonderland with tons of wildflowers. It's also a fantastic spot for birdwatching, with birds like meadowlarks and dickcissels nesting there. Many different kinds of butterflies fly around too. Some of the beautiful wildflowers you might see include prairie parsley, wild petunia, Indian paintbrush, winecup, prairie clovers, meadow pinks, purple coneflower, Mexican hat, gayfeather, azure sage, goldenrods, and asters.

Parkhill Prairie also has two small ponds where you can fish for sunfish almost all year. This park is a quiet spot, located on gentle hills. The mild winds and wide-open spaces make it perfect for flying kites! With farm fields and cows nearby, Parkhill Prairie feels like a peaceful, rural North Texas escape.

The Sister Grove Trail is great for hiking and mountain biking. It's a relaxed walk through the "scraggly woods" common in this part of North Texas. If you hike in the spring, you'll see lots of beautiful honeysuckle. In winter, you can spot holly trees full of bright red berries. Keep an eye out for armadillos and raccoons along the trail! A part of the trail also leads to nearby Lake Lavon. This trail is best for easy day-hikes, as it's not too hard or too crowded.
