Patriarch Nikon.

Nikon (born Nikita Minin on May 7, 1605 – died August 17, 1681) was a very important leader of the Russian Orthodox Church. He was the seventh Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus', serving from 1652 to 1666.

Nikon was known for being a great speaker and very energetic. He was also very religious and had a close friendship with Tsar Alexis of Russia. Nikon made many changes to the church. These changes later caused a big split in the Russian Orthodox Church, known as the Raskol. For a long time, he was a powerful political figure. He was sometimes as powerful as, or even more powerful than, the Tsar himself. However, his changes to church services were not popular with everyone. In December 1666, church leaders held a meeting to judge Nikon. He lost his church titles and became a simple monk.
