Patricia Urquiola's Journey

When Patricia was 22, she moved from Oviedo to Milan, Italy. She studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan. After finishing her studies, she started working at a design studio called De Padova in Milan. There, she became the head of product design.

From 1996 to 2001, she worked for another design company, Lissoni Associati. She has designed many cool products and pieces of furniture. These designs were for famous companies like Alessi, Cappellini, Cassina, Coalesse, Flos [it], Kartell, and Moroso.

Famous Designs and Roles

One of her well-known designs is the Step Sofa. It was shown at the Salone del Mobile (a big furniture fair) in Milan. Since 2015, Patricia has been the Creative Director for the Italian furniture company Cassina. This means she helps decide the overall look and feel of their products.

Patricia also started designing clothes! Her first fashion collection was for Max Mara in 2022. In the same year, she helped to renovate and redesign the Haworth Hotel in Holland, Michigan, USA.

Patricia Urquiola's designs are so special that they are kept in major museums around the world. Her work is part of the permanent collections at:
