Paul Vincent Guilfoyle (born April 28, 1949) is an American actor who has appeared in many TV shows and movies. He is best known for playing Captain Jim Brass in the popular CBS crime show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He was a main actor on the show from 2000 to 2014. He also came back for the show's final episode in 2015 and for two episodes of the follow-up series, CSI: Vegas.

Early Life and Education
Paul Guilfoyle was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He went to Boston College High School. Later, he graduated from Lehigh University in 1972.
He also became a member of The Actors Studio. He worked a lot in theater, both on and off Broadway. For 12 years, he was part of the Theatre Company of Boston. He acted in several Broadway plays, including Richard III with Al Pacino and Glengarry Glen Ross.

Guilfoyle has been a busy actor for many years. He often plays characters who are either good or bad members of law enforcement.
Film Appearances
He appeared in the movie Three Men and a Baby. Some of his other notable films include Howard the Duck, Wall Street, Beverly Hills Cop II, Mrs. Doubtfire, Air Force One, Amistad, and L.A. Confidential. He also appeared in the movie Spotlight, which was about his old high school.
Television Roles
On television, he had guest roles in shows like Miami Vice, Law & Order, Ally McBeal, and Star Trek: Discovery. In Star Trek: Discovery, he played Carl, who was the human form of the Guardian of Forever.
His most famous role is Captain Jim Brass in the CBS police drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He played this character from the very beginning of the show in 2000. In 2014, it was announced that he would be leaving CSI after 14 years. However, he returned in 2015 for the two-hour series finale called "Immortality".
Personal Life
In 1989, Paul Guilfoyle married Lisa Giobbi. She is a choreographer and aerial artist. They have one child and live in New York City.
