Paul Mares (born June 15, 1900 – died August 18, 1949) was an American jazz musician. He played the cornet and trumpet. He was also the leader of a famous band called the New Orleans Rhythm Kings.

Later Recordings

In January 1935, Paul Mares led another recording session. His band was called "Paul Mares and his Friars Society Orchestra." This name honored the Friar's Inn club in Chicago. The New Orleans Rhythm Kings had played there first.

This 1935 band included several skilled musicians. Santo Pecora, a veteran from N.O.R.K., played the trombone. Omar Simeon played the clarinet. Boyce Brown played the alto saxophone. Other members included George Wettling on drums, Jess Stacy on piano, Pat Pattison on bass, and Marvin Saxbe on guitar.

Paul Mares helped shape early jazz music. His work with the New Orleans Rhythm Kings left a lasting mark.
