Paul Andrew Schneider (born March 16, 1976) is an American actor. Many people know him for playing Mark Brendanawicz in the first two seasons of the popular TV comedy show Parks and Recreation. He has also acted in many movies and won awards for his performances.
Schneider played the character Dick Liddil in the Western movie The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007). He also won the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Charles Armitage Brown in the movie Bright Star (2009).

Paul Schneider was born and grew up in Asheville, North Carolina. After high school, he went to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts to study acting.

From 2009 to 2010, Schneider became well-known to TV audiences as Mark Brendanawicz on the NBC show Parks and Recreation. He was a main character for the first two seasons. Mark was a city planner in Pawnee, Indiana, who was often the serious character among a group of funny coworkers.
Schneider left the show after the second season. He later explained that the character had changed from what he originally signed up for. He said:
That experience was very strange for me. You know, I signed up for a specific character that was changed in mid-season. And it became a character with a lot less to do. And, all of a sudden, I was kind of confused and kind of having a lot less to do.
Later Career and Stage Work
After Parks and Recreation, Schneider continued to act in many films. Some of his other movies include Away We Go (2009), Water for Elephants (2011), and Rules Don't Apply (2016).
In 2018, Schneider performed on Broadway for the first time in a play called Straight White Men. Critics praised his performance, showing that he is a talented actor on stage as well as on screen.
Personal Life
Paul Schneider married Theresa Avila in 2016. She is an occupational therapist. Together, they have two daughters. Schneider is also involved with charities, including being an ambassador for the Innocence Project, an organization that works to help people who have been wrongly convicted of crimes.
