About Paula Green
Paula Green was born in 1955 in Auckland, New Zealand. She went to Kamo High School. Later, she studied at the University of Auckland. In 2005, she earned a special degree called a PhD.
Paula Green is married to a painter named Michael Hight. They live in Auckland.
Paula Green's Writing Career
Paula Green has written many poetry books. Some of her poetry collections for adults include Cookhouse and The Track.
She also writes poetry books especially for children. These books often have fun illustrations by artists like Jenny Cooper and Sarah Laing. Her poems have appeared in important collections like Best New Zealand Poems.
In 2010, Paula Green worked with Harry Ricketts to write a book called 99 Ways into New Zealand Poetry. She also put together a collection of love poems called Dear Heart: 150 New Zealand Love Poems.
In 2019, she published Wild Honey: Reading NZ Women's Poetry. This book was recognized as a top book in 2020.
Paula Green has also helped choose winners for many writing awards. These include the New Zealand Post Book Awards.
