Paulie Koch (born October 12, 1996) is an American world champion wakeboarder. He became famous in the wakeboarding world in 2010. At just 13 years old, he won the Under 13 Boys 2010 Rockstar WWA Wakeboard World Championships.
Paulie started wakeboarding when he was only 5 years old. In that same year, he began competing in local INT events. He quickly showed his talent. Paulie became the 2004 New England Regional Champion. This win led to him representing New England at the 2004 INT National Championships. That year, he won his first big title: "2004 Mini Outlaw INT National Champion."
On August 6, 2010, when Paulie was 13, Wakeboarding magazine's website featured him. They published an article called "Future Pro Paulie Koch shreds the projects." Just a few weeks later, Paulie was crowned the 2010 WWA wakeboard world champion. He won in the Boys 13 & Under age group.
Paulie Koch on TV
Since 2010, Paulie and his siblings have appeared on the Disney Channel. They are featured daily in Disney’s sports "shorts" called "Getcha Head In The Game." Paulie Koch and his sisters, Tori, Gabriella, and Moxie, were chosen for this special project. Their segment shows their amazing wakeboarding skills and how they train. The Koch kids signed a contract allowing Disney to show their segment all over the world for five years.
Disney created the "Getcha Head In The Game" series to find young athletes. They film these athletes practicing and training. The goal is to capture their passion for their sports. The idea is that kids can inspire other kids to get active. They want to encourage young people to try new sports. If kids "get their heads into a sport they love," their skills and fitness will improve. Paulie has been training with his sister Tori since he was 3 years old. Both have reached very high levels in wakeboarding. They inspire their younger sisters, Gabriella and Moxie. Now, with Disney featuring them, millions more kids will see their training. This will introduce many to the exciting sport of wakeboarding.
