Becoming a Photographer

In 1888, Pauline married a Finnish photographer named Niels Rasmussen. They worked together in Tampere, Finland. She learned a lot from him and became a skilled photographer herself. Later, in 1914, Pauline Schmidt opened her very own photography studio. This was a big step for a woman at that time!

Pauline Schmidt's interesting life is featured in a book called Pauline Wilhelmine – trollkonstnärinna. This means "Pauline Wilhelmine – a female magician." The book was written by Elisabeth Sandelin in 2013, helping to share Pauline's unique story with new generations.
