Paweł Marek Huelle (born September 10, 1957 – died November 27, 2023) was a well-known Polish writer. He wrote many interesting stories and novels. He was born and lived most of his life in the city of Gdańsk, Poland.

Paweł Huelle's Early Life and Career
Paweł Huelle studied Polish language and literature at the University of Gdańsk. In 1980, he helped create a student group that wanted to be independent. This group worked for more freedom for students.
Working as a Journalist and Activist
Later, Paweł Huelle became a journalist, writing for newspapers. He also worked for Solidarność (Solidarity). This was a very important movement in Poland that fought for workers' rights and freedom.
When martial law was declared in Poland in 1981, the army took control. During this time, he secretly helped publish books and newspapers that the government didn't allow. This was called the "samizdat" movement. He also taught students about literature, philosophy, and history.
Leading TV and Theater
From 1994 to 1999, Paweł Huelle was in charge of a TV station in Gdańsk called TVP3 Gdańsk. He also worked as a literary manager for the Municipal Theater of Gdynia. This meant he helped choose and develop plays for the theater.

Paweł Huelle's first novel, Weiser Dawidek

Paweł Huelle was a member of the Polish PEN Club. This is a worldwide group of writers who work to promote literature and freedom of expression.
In 2001, he won the Paszport Polityki Award for his book Mercedes-Benz. Z listów do Hrabala. This is a very respected award in Poland for artists. In 2008, he was nominated for the Nike Award for his novel Ostatnia wieczerza ("The Last Supper"). The Nike Award is one of the most important literary prizes in Poland.
Honors and Personal Life
In 2012, the President of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, gave him the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. This is a high honor given to people who have done great things for Poland. In 2014, he received the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis. This medal recognizes his contributions to Polish culture.
Paweł Huelle was married to Ida Łotocka-Huelle, who is a painter. He passed away in Gdańsk on November 27, 2023, at the age of 66.
