Pedro Zoilo Téllez-Girón y Pérez de Guzmán was an important Spanish nobleman who lived from 1728 to 1787. He was known as the 8th Duke of Osuna, which was a very high title in Spain. He was also a Grandee of Spain, a special honor given to the most important noble families.

Pedro Téllez-Girón was born on June 27, 1728. His father was José María Téllez-Girón, 7th Duke of Osuna, and his mother was Francisca Pérez de Guzmán y Mendoza. His mother's father was the 12th Duke of Medina Sidonia, another very powerful family.

In 1753, Pedro married María Vicenta Pacheco Téllez-Girón. She was his niece.

As a Duke and Grandee, Pedro Téllez-Girón held many important positions during his life. These roles showed his high status and influence in Spain.

Pedro Téllez-Girón was very close to the Spanish royal family. He served as a Camarero mayor del Rey, which meant he was a chief chamberlain to the King. He was also a Notario mayor de los Reinos de Castilla, a high legal position for the kingdoms of Castile.

He was a gentleman of the chamber for King Ferdinand VI and King Charles III. This meant he had a special role in the royal court.

Military Career

Pedro also had a military career. He was a lieutenant general in the Spanish Royal Armies. He was also a colonel of the Royal Spanish Infantry Guards Regiment and its director general. He even served as a captain of the King's personal guards.

Diplomatic Missions

Beyond his roles in Spain, Pedro Téllez-Girón also represented his country abroad. He was an ambassador to other European courts, including:
