Penelope Mitchell (born July 24, 1991) is an Australian actress. She is famous for her roles as Letha Godfrey in the horror TV series Hemlock Grove and as Liv Parker in The Vampire Diaries.

Early Life and Family

Penelope was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Her mother is a French-born artist, and her father is an Australian entrepreneur, which is someone who starts and runs businesses. She grew up in Australia with her two older brothers. From age 4 to 16, she was a dedicated ballet dancer.

In school, Penelope was a top student. She graduated with an International Baccalaureate diploma, which is a special achievement for high school students. She then went to Melbourne University, planning to become a lawyer. She earned a degree in Arts: Media Communication before deciding to move to Los Angeles to become an actress.

Penelope comes from a family known for public service. Her grandmother, Heather Mitchell, was the first female president of the National Farmers Federation in Australia. She also helped start an important environmental group called Landcare Australia. Penelope is also the cousin of another well-known actress, Radha Mitchell.

Acting Career

Penelope started acting a few years before her big break in America. She appeared on an Australian kids' show called Toon Time and a police drama called Rush. She was also part of a show called Next Stop Hollywood, which followed six Australian actors as they tried to start their careers in the U.S.

In the United States, Penelope became known for her roles in popular TV shows. She played Letha Godfrey in Hemlock Grove and the witch Liv Parker in The Vampire Diaries. She has also acted in movies, including the 2019 superhero film Hellboy. More recently, she played Renée Picard in the science-fiction series Star Trek: Picard.
