Peter Francis Jeddore (native name Saqamaw Piel) was an important leader of the Mi'kmaq people. He was born on May 9, 1892, and passed away on May 18, 1970. He was the fourth child of Noel Jeddore. Saqamaw Piel was accepted as a leader, or Saqamaw, by the Mi'kmaq of Miawpukek First Nation. He took on this role after his uncle, Joseph Jeddore, died.

Even though he was not "officially appointed," he served his community from 1954 until his death. He worked hard to protect the rights of the Miawpukek Mi’kmaq people. This included their rights to their traditional lands and natural resources. Saqamaw Piel also served his country during World War I. He fought overseas with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.
