Peter Moore Smith is an American writer born in 1965. He is known for his short stories and novels. In 2000, he won the Pushcart Prize for his short story called "Oblivion, Nebraska." He has also written two novels, Raveling and Los Angeles. Both of these books were published by Little, Brown.
Peter Moore Smith is the brother of famous actress Julianne Moore. He lives in New York City with his wife, Brigette, and their son, Wolfgang.

"Oblivion, Nebraska" is a short story by Peter Moore Smith. It was first published in a magazine called The Massachusetts Review in 1996. Later, it was chosen to be part of the Pushcart Prize XXVI: Best of the Small Presses collection. This award highlights some of the best short stories and poems from smaller publishers.
Film and Stage Adaptations
The story "Oblivion, Nebraska" has been adapted twice. It was made into a short film and also performed as a live stage reading. The short film was shown for the first time at the Australian International Film Festival in 2006. This film was 11 minutes long and featured actors like Jeremy Davidson and Sterling Beaumon.
The story was also performed live by a group called WordTheatre. A review from Kliatt described the story as a "bittersweet tale." It's about a young boy trying to understand his world after his mother passes away. Harper Audio later released a recording of this performance, along with other stories read by WordTheatre.
