Martínez started her acting journey in the theater. In 1967, she was part of the cast for a play by William Shakespeare called Twelfth Night.
Along with her husband, Juan Margallo, she founded a theater group called Uroc Teatro. In 2011, their group received a special award, the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes, which is a Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts. This is one of Spain's highest honors for artists.
