Petra Němcová (born June 24, 1979) is a famous model from the Czech Republic. She is also a television host and a kind person who helps others. Petra started a charity called the Happy Hearts Fund. In 2017, her charity joined with another group, All Hands Volunteers. Together, they formed All Hands And Hearts - Smart Response. Petra is now a co-founder and vice chair of this new organization.

Petra Němcová was born in a town called Karviná. This town was part of Czechoslovakia when she was born. Today, it is in the Czech Republic. She grew up in Karviná with her sister, Olga.
Petra's Career Journey
Becoming a Model
Petra was discovered on the streets of Prague by a modeling agency. She then moved to Milan, Italy, to start her career. In 1995, she won the Czech Elite Model Look competition. After that, her modeling career really took off.
Petra has worked for many big brands. These include Benetton, Bulgari, Cartier, and Victoria's Secret. She has also been on the covers of famous magazines. Some of these are Harper's Bazaar, Elle, and Sports Illustrated.
She has walked the runway for designers like Matthew Williamson. Petra became even more well-known when she appeared on the cover of the 2003 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Surviving the 2004 Tsunami
On December 26, 2004, Petra was in Khao Lak, Thailand. A huge natural disaster, the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, struck the area. Petra was badly hurt and held onto a palm tree for eight hours. Local Thai people rescued her. Sadly, her boyfriend, Simon Atlee, did not survive. This experience deeply affected Petra and inspired her to help others.
Helping Others: Philanthropy
Petra is very involved in helping people. She is part of the Glamour's Women of the Year Fund. Her book, Love Always, Petra, helped raise money for children affected by the 2004 tsunami. It also helped children impacted by other natural disasters.
Happy Hearts Fund
In 2005, Petra started the Happy Hearts Fund (HHF). She created this charity after her experience with the 2004 tsunami. The main goal of Happy Hearts Fund is to rebuild schools after natural disasters.
Thanks to the Happy Hearts Fund, 176 schools have been rebuilt around the world. These schools are in 10 different countries. Some of these countries include Thailand, Indonesia, Haiti, and Nepal. Petra has been very involved in the charity every day. She helps plan how the organization can best help people. Her own experience with the tsunami helps her understand what people need.

Awards and Recognition
Glamour magazine gave Petra a "Survivor Award" in 2005. This was for her amazing charity work after the tsunami. In 2012, the president of Haiti named her an Ambassador-at-Large for Haiti. This was to recognize her work with Happy Hearts Fund. In 2017, the UNISDR named Petra a Disaster Risk Reduction Champion. She also became a Tsunami Awareness Advocate.
Petra's Personal Life
Petra has been a vegan since 2007. She cares a lot about the world's oceans.
In 2019, Petra married an entrepreneur named Benjamin Larretche in Sedona, Arizona. Their first child was born in November 2019. He was born a bit early and spent some time in the hospital.
