Nguyễn Ngọc Phương Vy (born on August 27, 1987) is a talented singer from Vietnam. She became famous after winning the very first season of Vietnam Idol in 2007. This big win helped her start her music career.

Becoming a Star: Vietnam Idol
Phương Vy tried out for Vietnam Idol in Ho Chi Minh City. This competition was a big singing contest, much like American Idol in the United States. She did very well and made it into the top 10 contestants. Throughout the show, she was never one of the singers with the fewest votes. This showed how much people liked her performances.
Phương Vy reached the final round of the competition. On October 3, 2007, she won the title against another singer named Ngọc Ánh. Phương Vy received 53.44% of all the votes. As the winner, she was given 10,000 US dollars. She also signed a music contract with a company called Music Faces. Later, she even sang a song with the artist K'naan for the Vietnamese version of his famous song, "Wavin' Flag".

Competing in Asian Idol
After winning Vietnam Idol, Phương Vy went on to represent Vietnam in another big singing contest. This was the first ever Asian Idol competition. It took place in December 2007.
