Phum Viphurit's Journey to Music
Phum Viphurit was born in Bangkok, Thailand. His dad is an architect, and his mom is a graphic designer. When Phum was 9 years old, his family moved to Hamilton, New Zealand.
Discovering His Musical Talents
While living in New Zealand, Phum got his very first musical instrument: a drum set! He had wanted drums since he was a little kid. However, the drum sounds were a bit too loud for the neighbors. So, Phum had to stop playing drums and started learning the guitar instead. When he was 18, Phum moved back to Thailand to study at Mahidol University International College.
Becoming a Star
Back in Thailand, Phum started to get noticed for his original songs and cover songs that he posted on YouTube. Soon, he signed with an independent music company called Rats Records. He released his first album, Manchild, in 2017.
His next two songs, "Long Gone" and "Lover Boy," helped him become famous worldwide. Their music videos were shared a lot online. In 2018, Phum went on an international tour, performing in many countries like Hong Kong, Japan, Germany, the United States, and more. In 2019, he released another song called "Hello, Anxiety" and toured the United States again.
