Pierre Autin-Grenier (born April 4, 1947 – died April 12, 2014) was a French writer. He was born in Lyon, France. He is known for his unique and experimental writing style.
Autin-Grenier's writing often explored themes of everyday life. He also wrote about his views on society. His work was sometimes critical of big businesses and strict rules. He preferred to write about local places and their unique feel.
His Writing Style
Pierre Autin-Grenier wrote many short pieces. These included short stories and prose poems. He also wrote Récits, which are short narrative pieces common in French literature.
He was part of a special project called a roman collectif. This means "collective novel." For this project, 13 different authors each wrote a chapter for one complete novel.
Published Works
Autin-Grenier published many collections of his short writings. Three of his collections of Récits are like a series. They are titled Je ne suis pas un héros, Toute une vie bien ratée, and L'éternité est inutile. Together, they are known as Une histoire.
One of his later works is Friterie-bar Brunetti. This book is a collection of stories. It is about the regular customers of an old bar in Lyon. The book also shows his dislike for large chain cafés. He felt these big chains were replacing unique local spots.
