Piet Jongeling facts for kids
Pieter "Piet" Jongeling (born March 31, 1909, died August 26, 1985) was a Dutch politician and a popular writer of children's books. He was also known by his writing name, Piet Prins. Piet Jongeling was a member of a political party called the Reformed Political League (GPV). He also served in the House of Representatives, which is like the Dutch parliament.

Piet Jongeling's Life as a Journalist
Piet Jongeling started his career as a journalist. He wrote for a newspaper called Nieuwe Provinciale Groninger Courant. This newspaper was linked to a political group known as the Anti-Revolutionary Party.
Working During World War II
During World War II, the Netherlands was occupied by Germany. In 1941, the newspaper Piet worked for was stopped. The next year, in 1942, Piet Jongeling was sent to a camp. After the war ended, he became the editor of the Nieuwe Provinciale Groninger Courant again. Later, he moved to become an editor for another newspaper, De Vrije Kerk.
Piet Jongeling in Politics
Piet Jongeling was first a member of the Anti-Revolutionary Party. However, he left this party when a new one was formed. This new party was called the Reformed Political League (GPV). It was created by a group of churches in 1944.
Serving in Parliament
In 1963, Piet Jongeling was chosen to be a member of the House of Representatives. This is where laws are made in the Netherlands. He worked there until 1977. During his time, he was the leader of his party, the GPV, in the House of Representatives.
Piet Prins: Author of Children's Books
Piet Jongeling wrote many exciting books for children. He used the special writing name "Piet Prins" for these books. His most famous books are the Scout series. In Dutch, these books are called Snuf.
