The Story of Ping Restaurant
Ping was first opened by a chef named Andy Ricker. He is well-known for his other restaurants too.
First Location: Old Town Chinatown
The very first Ping restaurant opened its doors in 2009. It was located in a historic area of Portland called Old Town Chinatown. This spot used to be home to another famous restaurant called Hung Far Low. Ping served customers there for a few years. However, the restaurant closed down in 2012.
Reopening in Southeast Portland
After being closed for several years, Ping made a comeback! It reopened in 2020 in a different part of Portland. The new location is in the southeast Portland area, in a neighborhood called Hosford-Abernethy. This reopening happened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even with the challenges of the pandemic, Ping was able to welcome guests again.
