Pink is a ghost town located in Tunica County, Mississippi, United States. It sits on the south bank of the White Oak Bayou. A ghost town is a place where most or all people have left, leaving behind empty buildings and a sense of history. Pink is one such place that has become quiet over time.
The Story of Pink
Pink was founded in the year 1900. It was named after its founder, a person named Pink Bizzell. He was an important part of the town's early days.
How Pink Started
Pink Bizzell opened a small store in the new settlement. This store was very important because it also served as the Pink Post Office. People in the area could send and receive mail from this small building. It was a central spot for the community.
When the Post Office Closed
The Pink Post Office did not stay open for very long. By 1907, just seven years after it began, the post office was closed down. This often happens when a town's population shrinks or people move away.
What Remains Today
Today, almost nothing is left of the original town of Pink. The only things that still stand are the Phillips Church and its cemetery. These historical sites are a quiet reminder of the community that once lived there. They show where people gathered and where they were laid to rest.
