Piotr Protasiewicz (born on January 25, 1975, in Zielona Góra, Poland) is a famous Polish speedway rider. He has won the World team championship four times. He also played for the Poland national speedway team 24 times.

Piotr Protasiewicz started his speedway journey in 1991. He joined the team Falubaz Zielona Góra and rode for them for four seasons. Early in his career, he showed great talent. He reached the finals of the Speedway Under-21 World Championship three times. These were in 1993, 1995, and 1996. In the 1996 final, he scored a perfect 15 points. This amazing performance made him the World Under-21 champion!

He also rode for the Polish national team. This was during the 1996 Speedway World Cup. In 1997, he won the GP Challenge. This win meant he got a permanent spot in the 1998 Grand Prix series. He achieved this same success again in 2003.

Piotr started riding in the British league in 1998. His first team there was the King's Lynn Stars. He later rode for the Peterborough Panthers and the Ipswich Witches. His last season in Britain was with the Oxford Cheetahs in 2007. In 2005, he helped Poland win another World Cup gold medal. This was at the 2005 Speedway World Cup.

Piotr rode in 12 different Speedway Grand Prix series during his career. His last one was the 2010 Speedway Grand Prix. He continued to achieve great things with the Polish team. He won his third and fourth Speedway World Cup gold medals. These wins came at the 2009 Speedway World Cup and the 2011 Speedway World Cup.

After riding for Polonia Bydgoszcz for several seasons, he went back to his first club, Zielona Góra. He rode for them for many years. In 2022, he started his 16th year in a row with the club.

Awards and Achievements

For his great achievements in speedway, Piotr received a special award. In 2000, he was given the Silver Cross of Merit. This is an important award in Poland.

Personal Life

Piotr Protasiewicz married his girlfriend, Katarzyna, on October 25, 2002. They have two children together. Speedway runs in his family! His father, Paweł, was also a speedway rider.
