Pital was officially created a long time ago. This happened on November 5, 1948. It became a district through a special rule called Decreto 36.

Pital is quite a large area. It covers about 379.61 square kilometers. This makes it the third biggest district in its canton. The land here is about 156 meters above sea level.
Where is Pital Located?
Pital is in the northern part of Costa Rica. It shares borders with three other districts. These are Venice to the south, and Cutris and Aguas Zarcas to the west. To the north, Pital borders Nicaragua. To the east, it borders the Heredia province.

The main city of Pital is also called Pital. It is about 28.6 kilometers northeast of Quesada. This trip takes about 50 minutes by car. Pital is also about 91.9 kilometers northwest of San José. San José is the capital city of Costa Rica. Driving there takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Pital's Low Altitude
Pital is located at a low elevation. Much of the district is part of the flat lands. These flat areas are known as the plains of San Carlos.
