The Pittsfield Universalist Church is a special old building in Pittsfield, Maine. It's located at 112 Easy Street. This church was built a long time ago, starting in 1898 and finishing in 1899. Some parts of it are even older, from 1857! It's a great example of a building style called Queen Anne architecture. People also love it for its beautiful artwork and colorful stained glass windows. Because it's so important, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

About the Church Building
The Pittsfield Universalist Church stands on the east side of Main Street. It's right in the middle of Pittsfield, just north of where Main Street meets Easy Street. You can get to it by car from Easy Street.
How the Church Looks
The church building is made of wood and has two and a half stories. It's shaped like the letter "T" if you look at it from above. The main part, where people gather for services, faces east and west. The top part of the "T" is attached to the main area on its eastern side. This section holds a meeting room, a cozy parlor, and a vestry (a room for clergy or for storing robes). This older part was actually the original church from 1857! It was moved, turned around, and changed a lot when the newer main church section was built.
Church Towers
The church has three towers, which are not too big.
- The largest tower is at the southeast corner, where the two main parts of the building join. This tower used to have more fancy details. Now, it has a pointed roof. This is where the main entrance to the church is.
- A second square tower stands at the southwest end of the main church area.
- A third, smaller, round tower is located at the northeast side of the main church area.
Inside the Church: Art and Windows
The inside of the church is truly amazing because of its art and stained glass.
- The ceilings are decorated with beautiful paintings called frescoes. These were painted by Henry H. Cochrane, a very busy artist from Maine. He decorated many churches in the state.
- The colorful stained glass windows in the main church area were designed by a company called Redding, Baird and Co. from Boston, Massachusetts.
- The church's interior is special in Maine because of these unique features. It has also been kept in excellent condition over the years.
