The Story of Pizza Haven
How Pizza Haven Started
Pizza Haven began in 1984. Four brothers named Evan, Louis, Bill, and Gabriel Christou started it. They used a loan of A$24,000 from their parents' home to get started.
The very first Pizza Haven store opened in Glenelg, a suburb of Adelaide, Australia. The brothers worked hard, and they hired twelve people to help them run the business.
Growing the Pizza Business
Over time, Pizza Haven grew into a medium-sized company. By the year 2000, there were about 180 Pizza Haven stores. Most of these were franchises, meaning local owners ran them.
For a few years in the 1990s, Pizza Haven even had some stores operating in Thailand!
What Happened to Pizza Haven?
In 2005, a big change happened for Pizza Haven in New Zealand. Another well-known pizza company, Domino's Pizza, bought all the Pizza Haven stores there. Most of these stores quickly changed their name and became Domino's. A few stayed as Pizza Haven for a while, but eventually, all of them became Domino's Pizza stores.
A few years later, in July 2008, the Pizza Haven stores in Australia were also bought out. This time, the Eagle Boys pizza chain took them over. Later, Eagle Boys itself was bought by Pizza Hut in 2016. Because of these changes, all the remaining Pizza Haven stores in Australia eventually changed their names and became Pizza Hut restaurants.
