How Pizza Pops Started
Pizza Pops were invented in 1964 by a man named Paul Faraci. He lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Paul got the idea from traditional Italian snacks. These are often folded pastries filled with cheese.
Later, a company called Pillsbury bought the rights to Pizza Pops. Today, they are made by General Mills. The main factory where they are produced is still in Winnipeg.
Different Kinds of Pizza Pops
Pizza Pops come in many different flavors. Some popular ones include "Hawaiian" and "Three Meat." You can also find "Pepperoni" and "Pepperoni & Bacon." Other varieties are "Deluxe," "Cheese Burger," and "Canadian." There are also "Poutine" and "Three Cheese" options.
Most Pizza Pops have pizza sauce, cheese-like topping, and meat. Some kinds might also have vegetables. These can include green peppers or mushrooms. They may also contain artificial colors and flavors.
Past Flavors
In the 1980s, two new flavors were introduced: Chili Pops and Veggie Pops. However, these were stopped after only a few years. Chili Pops were brought back in the 1990s. At that time, Fajita Pops were also introduced. But both of these flavors were also discontinued.
Pizza Pops are currently sold only in Canada.
