Popes Named Boniface

Pope Boniface I (418–422)

Pope Boniface I led the Church from 418 to 422. He became Pope during a time when there was some disagreement about who should be the next leader. He worked hard to bring peace and order back to the Church.

Early Church Leader

Boniface I was known for being a strong leader. He helped to set rules for how the Church should work. He also worked to make sure that the Pope's authority was respected. He was a key figure in the early days of the Church.

Pope Boniface II (530–532)

Pope Boniface II served as Pope from 530 to 532. He was special because he was the first Pope of Germanic origin. This means his family came from a region in Europe that is now Germany.

Boniface II was chosen by the previous Pope, Felix IV, which was unusual at the time. He worked to keep the Church united. He also helped to settle disagreements among different groups of Christians.

Pope Boniface III (607)

Pope Boniface IV (608–615)

Pope Boniface IV was Pope from 608 to 615. He is remembered for turning an ancient Roman temple into a Christian church. This was a big step in showing the growth of Christianity.

Boniface IV got permission from the emperor to change the Pantheon in Rome into a church dedicated to Mary and all the Christian martyrs. This building is still used today. He also worked to support monks and nuns, who dedicate their lives to prayer and service.
