Plot Summary
In this movie, Popeye goes on an exciting journey to find his dad, Poopdeck Pappy. Popeye has bad dreams that warn him his dad is in danger. Pappy had left Popeye when he was a child. Now, Popeye bravely sails out to sea to find his dad. He wants to bring him home for the Christmas holidays.
Popeye is not alone on his adventure. His friends come with him. These friends include the kind Olive Oyl, the strong Bluto, the always-hungry Wimpy, and little Swee'Pea. They all head towards the Sea of Mystery. This sea is a dangerous place, as it belongs to the evil Sea Hag.
As they travel, strange things start to happen. The group meets beautiful sirens who try to trick them. They also see scary sea serpents and sail through spooky mists. All these dangers are the Sea Hag's tricks. She wants to stop Popeye and get rid of him forever.

How It Was Made
This special movie was first planned to be made using Claymation. Claymation is a type of stop-motion animation where characters are made from clay. The famous animator Will Vinton was going to make it. However, Will Vinton lost his studio in 2002 because of money problems.
After that, Mainframe Entertainment took over the project. They decided to make it using computer animation instead.
Billy West, who voiced Popeye, said that making this movie was "the hardest job I ever did." He also said that doing Popeye's voice felt "like a buzzsaw in your throat."
