What Are Postal Codes in Armenia?

Armenia uses a system of numbers called postal codes to sort mail. These codes make sure your letters and packages arrive at the correct address. They are super important for the postal service!

How Armenian Postal Codes Changed

For a long time, postal codes in Armenia had six digits. This was the system used across the country. For example, if you wanted to send mail to the Foreign Ministry in the capital city, Yerevan, you would have used the code 375010.

But things changed on April 1, 2006. The Armenian postal system updated its codes.

Understanding the New System

After April 1, 2006, Armenian postal codes became shorter and simpler. They now only have four digits. This new system makes it easier to remember and use the codes.

For instance, the Foreign Ministry's postal code in Yerevan is now 0010. This is much shorter than the old six-digit code!

These four-digit codes help organize different areas. The numbers usually tell postal workers which part of the country, city, or even neighborhood the mail needs to go to. Using the correct postal code helps mail get to its destination faster and more accurately.
