The President of the Senate is a very important person in the Dutch Senate. The Senate is like one of the two main groups of lawmakers in the Netherlands. This president is chosen from the 75 members of the Senate. Their main job is to lead meetings and speak for the Senate.
The current President is Jan Anthonie Bruijn. He is from the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). He has been in this role since July 2, 2019.

What the Senate President Does
The President of the Senate has several key jobs. They make sure meetings run smoothly. They also represent the Senate when dealing with other groups or countries.
Leading Meetings and Committees
The President leads all the meetings of the Senate. They also lead special groups called committees. These include the Internal Committee and the Committee of Senior Members. These committees help the Senate work well. The President also leads joint meetings of both houses of the Dutch Parliament. These special meetings are called Verenigde Vergadering.
The Official Name
In English, this important role is called the "President of the Senate." But in Dutch, the official name is Voorzitter van de Eerste Kamer der Staten-Generaal. This means "Chairman of the First Chamber of the States General." People often just call them the "Chairman." So, "President" and "Chairman" mean the same important job!
