What the Building Looks Like
The Professional Building is on the east side of Main Street in downtown Waterville. It's a four-story building. It has a strong steel frame covered with bricks and concrete. The front of the building, facing Main Street, has five main sections. The sections on the very ends stick out a little. This makes them look like small towers.
On both the Main Street side and the Appleton Street side, the outer sections have fancy doorways. These doorways are shaped like rounded arches with cool decorations. The entire first floor has decorative concrete designs above its windows and doors. The very top of the building also has similar decorations. The corners of the roof have raised walls called parapets.
The windows in the corner sections are regular windows. They have decorative panels between them. The windows in the middle sections are grouped in threes. Each group has a narrow window, then a wide one, then another narrow one. Brick columns stick out between these sections. They have special decorations at the very top, near the roof.
A Look at Its History

When it was built, it was a very big deal for Waterville. It had more than 30,000 square feet of space. This made it the largest building of its kind in the city. It offered lots of room for businesses and offices. The building's design also stands out. It was one of the first places in Maine to feature the Art Deco style.
