The Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a very important group of people who make laws for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Think of it as the main law-making body for the province. It's called a unicameral body, which means it has only one main group or "house" of lawmakers. This assembly was created under a special rule, Article 106, of the Constitution of Pakistan.

What is the Provincial Assembly?

The Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is where elected representatives meet to discuss and create new laws for the province. These laws help manage everything from schools and hospitals to roads and public safety. The assembly also watches over how the provincial government spends money and does its work.

How Many Members?

The assembly has 124 members who are chosen by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These members are called Members of Provincial Assembly, or MPAs for short.

  • Most of the seats, 99 of them, are for regular members elected from different areas.
  • There are also 22 special seats reserved just for women. This helps make sure women have a strong voice in law-making.
  • Another 3 seats are set aside for people who are not Muslim, ensuring that all communities are represented.

Who Leads the Assembly?

The members of the assembly have a big job: they elect the Chief Minister of the Province. The Chief Minister is like the head of the provincial government. Once elected, the Chief Minister chooses a group of people called the Cabinet of Ministers. These ministers are in charge of different parts of the government, like education, health, or finance, and they help run the province every day.
