Pulse (or Pass Pass Pulse) is a very popular hard candy from India. It's made by a company called DS Group. The most famous flavor is 'Kachcha Aam', which means raw mango. This candy is special because it has a yummy, tangy, and slightly spicy powder inside, a bit like a sour mango powder called Amchoor.
Pulse candy comes in several exciting flavors. You can find it in Kachcha Aam (raw mango), Guava, Orange, Pineapple, and Litchi. In India, one Pulse candy usually costs about ₹1.
The Story of Pulse Candy
The idea for Pulse candy started in 2013. A special team at DS Group worked for two years to create the perfect candy. They wanted to make something new and exciting. Finally, in mid-2015, Pulse candy was launched! The very first flavor was the popular Kachcha Aam.
Later, in December 2016, DS Group added more flavors. They launched Guava and Orange Pulse candies all over India. The way Pulse candy is made is very unique. The company even has a special patent for its recipe. This means no other company can copy their exact candy formula.
How Popular is Pulse Candy?
Pulse candy became a huge hit very quickly! Just eight months after it was launched, it sold candies worth ₹100 crores. That's a lot of money, and it was as much as the sales of a well-known drink called Coca-Cola Zero at the time.
In 2016, the DS Group was making a massive amount of Pulse candy. They produced between 300 and 400 tonnes of candy every single month! To give you an idea, one tonne is 1,000 kilograms, so that's a lot of candy!
By March 2017, Pulse candy's total sales reached ₹300 crores. This was even more than the sales of famous snacks like Oreo cookies and Mars Bars. Because Pulse candy is so popular, DS Group is now planning to sell it in other countries too. They are setting up stores in places like the US, the UK, and Singapore.
