The History of Qatar Squash
How the Federation Started
The Qatar Squash Federation began in 1984. At first, it was part of a bigger group. This group was called the Qatari Tennis and Squash Federation. It managed both tennis and squash sports together.
Joining World Squash Groups
In 1986, the Qatar Squash Federation joined several important international groups. These included the World Squash Federation, the Arabian Squash Federation, and the Asian Squash Federation. Joining these groups helped Qatar connect with squash players and events worldwide.
Becoming Independent
The Qatari Squash Federation also helped start the Organization Committee in August 1989. Later, on January 22, 2001, the squash and tennis groups separated. The Qatar Squash Federation became its own independent organization. This allowed it to focus only on developing squash in Qatar.
