Music Career
Queen Pen's music journey began when she started working with Teddy Riley. He was a producer and part of the R&B group Blackstreet. She was featured on Blackstreet's hit song "No Diggity" in 1996. Even though she was not listed on the song, her part helped make it very popular.
She signed with Riley's Lil' Man label. In 1997, she released her first solo album, My Melody. Teddy Riley produced most of the songs on this album. Her first album had several songs that became popular. These included "Man Behind the Music", "All My Love", and "Party Ain't a Party". She also gained attention for her song "Girlfriend". After a break, she released her second album, Conversations with Queen, in 2001.
Life Outside Music
Queen Pen is now an entrepreneur and a writer. She has two sons, Donlynn and Quintion. They are also rappers and are known as Nefu Da Don and Q Nhannaz.
Disagreement with Foxy Brown
In 1998, Queen Pen had a disagreement with another rapper, Foxy Brown. This started because of Queen Pen's song "Girlfriend". Foxy Brown released a song called "10% Dis" that criticized Queen Pen.
Reports say Queen Pen confronted Foxy Brown at a music event. Their argument was stopped by others. Later, they met again, and the conflict was again calmed down. Foxy Brown released another song in late 1998 called "Talk to Me". Queen Pen responded in 2001 with her song "I Got Cha". She said her song was not about Brown, but Brown disagreed. The disagreement eventually ended. By 2006, Queen Pen and Foxy Brown made up at a music event.
