Queen Silver-Bell facts for kids
Queen Silver-Bell is a fun children's book. It's the first of four books written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Harrison Cady drew the pictures for the books.
The Story of Queen Silver-Bell
In the first book, we meet Queen Silver-Bell. She is the queen of all the fairies. One day, she loses her "temper." Most people don't know that a fairy's temper is actually a tiny fairy itself! After losing it, Queen Silver-Bell becomes known as Queen Crosspatch.
Queen Crosspatch knows she can't find her temper again easily. She needs to do something special first. She must help people, especially children, believe in fairies once more. This is how people used to believe "once upon a time."
So, Queen Crosspatch decides on a plan. She will find a "respectable" person to write down her stories. She will tell the stories, and this person will write them. All the books that come after Queen Silver-Bell have a special subtitle. They are all called "As Told By Queen Crosspatch."
The first book, Queen Silver-Bell, also includes another story. It is called "How Winnie Hatched The Little Rooks."
