The Quequechan Club is a special building with a long history. It started as a private club where people could meet and socialize. Today, it remains a private place.
A Look Back: Club History
In the late 1800s, the Quequechan Club was known as a "gentlemen's club." This meant it was a private place mainly for men to gather and relax. The members themselves helped run the club. Upstairs, there were bedrooms that guests could use, much like a bed and breakfast.
From Club to Restaurant
As time went on, especially in the early 1900s, the club changed. It became more focused on being a restaurant and a place for special events, like banquets, for its members. For a long time, women could only enter the dining room if they were with a man. However, in the 1970s, this rule changed, and women were allowed to enter on their own.
Today, the club is no longer run by all its members. Instead, it is owned by one person, Dan Silva.
Ghost Stories at the Club
Some people say the Quequechan Club might be haunted! There have been reports of strange happenings. People who study ghosts and mediums (people who claim to communicate with spirits) have even visited the building to investigate. However, no solid proof of ghosts has been found yet.
