Quianu Robinson (born 1852, died 1919) was an important person from New Mexico. He was a politician, which means he helped make decisions for the state. He was a member of the Republican Party. From 1916 to 1918, he worked in the New Mexico House of Representatives. He represented the second district of New Mexico during that time.
Starting His Career
Before he became a politician, Quianu Robinson was a close friend and supporter of Conrad N. Hilton Sr.. Conrad Hilton was also a politician in New Mexico. He served in the New Mexico Legislature from 1912 to 1916. When Conrad Hilton decided to stop being a politician, he supported Quianu Robinson to take his place.
Robinson served only one term in the House of Representatives. He decided to retire because he was not feeling well. He passed away just one year after he retired. Quianu Robinson was also a member of a group called the Knights of Columbus.
Exploring New Mexico
One of Quianu Robinson's most famous achievements was exploring a mountain in New Mexico. He was the first person to reach the top of this mountain. Today, it is known as Robinson Peak, named in his honor.
Robinson climbed the peak with Conrad Hilton and five other explorers. This journey was part of the Hagerman-Robinson Expedition. Herbert James Hagerman approved this expedition. He chose Quianu Robinson to lead the team. Robinson was a captain in the New Mexico National Guard at the time.
This expedition was a big part of exploring and mapping northern New Mexico. Before this, much of the area was not mapped. The journey lasted for almost two months. After their long trip, Robinson and his team returned home.
