The Church's History
The Carondelet AME Church started in 1845. In 1880, this church bought the building from the city of St. Louis. They changed the old market building into their church.
The building was first a market. It was built in 1869 by the city of Carondelet. When St. Louis took over Carondelet in 1870, the market building became property of St. Louis. In 1882, the church changed its name to Quinn Chapel. They did this to honor William Paul Quinn. He was the fourth bishop of the AME Church.
What the Church Does Today
Quinn Chapel is still an active AME Church. It continues to serve its community. The current pastor is the Rev. Lori K. Beason.
