The Río Negro is a very important river in southern Chile. Its name means "black river" in Spanish. This river is one of the main streams that flows into the Rahue River.
About the Río Negro
The Río Negro starts in the eastern part of the Cordillera Pelada. This mountain range is close to the coast. The river then flows from the south towards the north. It carries water from the slopes of these mountains.
Where the River Flows
The Río Negro is a key part of the water system in its area. It eventually joins the Rahue River. The Rahue River is a larger river in the same region. The place where the Río Negro meets the Rahue River is called its mouth. This spot is about 26 meters (85 feet) above sea level.
