Río Seco, Puerto Rico facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Río Seco is a special river in Puerto Rico! Its name means "dry river" in Spanish. Even though its name suggests it's dry, it's an important part of the island's southern coast.

This river starts high up in the mountains, in a place called Barrio Pozo Hondo, which is part of the town of Guayama. It begins at an elevation of about 300 meters (or 984 feet) above sea level. From there, it flows for about 8 miles (which is around 13 kilometers) until it reaches the ocean, emptying into the beautiful Bay of Jobos.
