Climate Around the River
The area around the Río de los Patos, especially a place called Valle de los Patos Superior, has a special kind of climate. It's known as a dry-summer subarctic climate. This means it has cold, snowy winters and mild, dry summers.
It can get extremely cold here! In July 1972, the temperature dropped to an amazing -39 degrees Celsius (-38.2 degrees Fahrenheit). This was the coldest temperature ever recorded in Argentina.
