Rachel Brathen (born Rachel Bråthén on October 5, 1988) is a world-famous yoga teacher from Sweden. Many people know her by her nickname, Yoga Girl. She is known for helping to create paddleboard yoga, a fun type of yoga done on the water. Rachel also started a popular yoga studio called Island Yoga Aruba in the Caribbean.

Rachel's Journey to 'Yoga Girl'
Rachel Brathen was born in Sweden. After she finished high school, she decided to travel. Her travels took her to Costa Rica, a country in Central America. She lived there for three years and deepened her love for yoga.
A New Way to Do Yoga
In 2009, Rachel began teaching a new and exciting style of yoga. It was done on a stand-up paddleboard in the water. This is now known as stand-up paddleboard yoga, and she was one of the first people to teach it. This unique idea helped her become well-known around the world.
Becoming a Famous Author
Rachel is a teacher of yoga as exercise. She wrote a book called Yoga Girl which came out in 2015. The book was a huge success and became a New York Times best-seller. It helped popularize her idea of doing "Yoga every single day."
In 2019, she published another book about her life called To love and let go: a memoir of love, loss, and gratitude.
Building a Yoga Community
Rachel wanted to share her love of yoga with as many people as possible. She founded a yoga studio in Aruba called Island Yoga Aruba. She also created a yoga video service called oneOeight and a non-profit organization named 109 World.
A Social Media Star
Rachel became very popular on social media, especially Instagram. In 2017, the magazine Forbes named her one of the most important social media influencers in fitness. The magazine noted that she could earn as much as $25,000 for a single sponsored post on Instagram.
She also started a podcast in March 2017. It quickly became very popular and appeared on the iTunes charts.
Personal Life
Rachel and her husband, Dennis, used to live on the island of Aruba. He helped manage her yoga business. They got married in June 2014. Today, they live in her home country of Sweden with their daughter and son.
