The Story of Radar Lake
This amazing lake was created by a man named Herb O'Brien. He was a big fan of water sports and wanted to create the perfect place for them. In 1972, Herb bought the land and started building the lake.
Herb O'Brien's Big Idea
When Herb was young, he loved water sports. He dreamed of a private and peaceful place where people could enjoy these sports. He also wanted them to enjoy the beautiful nature around them. Radar Lake was his dream come true. It was a quiet spot where water sports lovers could have a great time.
How Radar Lake Got Its Name
In 1976, a man named Wilbur McPherson bought the property. Wilbur owned a company called Radar Electric, which is now known as Radar Inc. He decided to name the lake "Radar Lake" to honor his company.
Wilbur McPherson and Herb O'Brien became good friends. Even after Wilbur bought the lake, they stayed close. In 2000, Herb O'Brien bought Radar Lake back from Wilbur. Wilbur continued to live on the property with Herb and their families until he passed away in 2007. Herb O'Brien himself passed away in 2012.
Radar Lake remains a significant place in the history of water sports, thanks to the vision of Herb O'Brien and the support of Wilbur McPherson.
