Radix linae
Scientific classification

Radix linae is a special type of freshwater snail. It is a tiny gastropod mollusk that lives in fresh water. This snail belongs to a group of snails called the Lymnaeidae family.

Where Does It Live?

This unique snail can only be found in one place: the Balearic Islands. These islands are a group of beautiful islands located in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Spain. Because Radix linae lives only there, it is called an endemic species of the Balearic Islands.

What is a Gastropod?

A gastropod is a type of mollusk. Mollusks are soft-bodied animals, and they often have a hard shell. Snails, slugs, and even octopuses are all types of mollusks! Gastropods are special because they usually have a single shell, and they move around on a muscular "foot." Radix linae is a great example of a gastropod.
