Rafael Ishkhanyan was born in 1922. He became a very important person in Armenia. He was known for his deep knowledge of the Armenian language and its history. He also studied the history of the Armenian people.
His Early Life and Education
In 1939, Rafael Ishkhanyan started studying at Yerevan State University. He chose to learn about Armenian language and literature. His studies were paused when he had to fight in World War II. After the war ended, he went back to university. He finished his studies and graduated in 1949.
What Did He Study and Write About?
Ishkhanyan spent his life studying and writing. His main focus was the very early history of the Armenian people. He also compared ancient languages to understand how they are related. Another big part of his work was about printing and books. He even helped write parts of the Armenian Soviet encyclopedia.
His Role in Government
From 1990 to 1996, Rafael Ishkhanyan was a Deputy in the Supreme Soviet Armenia. This means he helped make important decisions for the country.
