Raglan railway station is an old, unused train station in Raglan, New South Wales, Australia. It sits on the Main Western railway line. A Look Back: Raglan Station's History

The first train line to Raglan opened for passengers on March 4, 1873. At that time, Raglan was the very end of the railway line. Goods trains started using the line a bit later, on August 4, 1873.

Why the Station Moved

The original station was built on a very steep hill. In early 1890, a serious train accident happened. People thought the accident could have been avoided if the station had been on flatter ground. Because of this, there were calls to move the station to a safer, more level spot.

The government quickly decided to move the station. The new Raglan station, which is the one you see today, opened on October 20, 1890. It was built on much more level ground.

What Raglan Station Looks Like

The station building is made of timber, which is wood. It has special supports called brackets and a roof made of tin.

The station also has an island platform. This means the platform is like an island, with train tracks on both sides. This platform is made from bricks.

Why Raglan Station is Important
