Charles Eustache Gabriel (born July 29, 1788 – died October 1862) was also known as Rainulphe d'Osmond. He was a count and later became the 5th Marquis of Osmond in 1838. He served as a "menin" to Louis, Duke of Angoulême. A menin was a young nobleman who became a close companion to royal children. Louis became the Dauphin (the heir to the French throne) when Charles X became king in 1824.

Rainulphe's Life and Career

Rainulphe d'Osmond was an important figure in the French court. He was a "menin" to Louis, Duke of Angoulême. This meant he was a trusted companion and friend to the young prince.

According to the writings of Queen Hortense, Rainulphe once sought a special job. He wanted to be a Chamberlain in Holland. A Chamberlain was a high-ranking official in a royal household. However, his request was turned down by Louis Bonaparte, who was the King of Holland at the time. Louis Bonaparte was also the younger brother of the famous Napoleon, Emperor of the French.
