The Story of Raleigh Road United Church
How Two Churches Became One
The Raleigh Road United Church has an interesting past. It was created when two different churches came together.
One of these was St Paul's Congregational Church. It started in 1898. A kind person named Sir Charles Burt helped pay for its building. He was an important member of another church nearby, The Vineyard Church. Sir Charles Burt was also a former mayor of Richmond.
The other church was the Kew Road Methodist Church. This church began even earlier, in 1868.
Joining Together
Over time, these two churches decided to unite. They became what we now know as Raleigh Road United Church. The current building was completed in 1956.
